Olympics Ambassador

To conclude our Olympics Inquiry, we welcomed Olympics Ambassador, Nicola Coles to share her Olympics story with us.  Nicola is a rower and represented New Zealand at the Olympics games.  Nicola was inspirational to listen to - her determination, perseverance, set backs and triumphs.  We all thoroughly enjoyed her presentation and made links between the Olympic values and our Halswell School values.  The best thing we learned from Nicola was to never give up!

Certificate Assembly

At the end of Term 3, we had a certificate assembly to show off what Halswell students had achieved over the last term.

Basketball Winners:

During Term 3 we had basketball teams entered in Pioneer basketball. Our Year 5/6 team won the Year 5/6 A grade Pioneer competition. A huge thank you to their coach Mark Dickel.

Team pictured: Ashton, George, Louie, Leo, Madden, Guy, Ameya and Michael.

ICAS Results

Year 5/6 celebrated their ICAS results at the certificate assembly. ICAS writing and spelling certificates were handed out for students who achieved a merit, credit or distinction. Achieving credit puts the students in the top 25% of students that participated in the exam. Distinction achievement puts a student in the top 10% of those who participated.

A huge congratulations to all students that took part and to those that achieved awards. A special mention to Samuel Burgess and Indiana Bell who achieved distinction in writing, putting them in the top 10%.
Well Done!
