On Friday we were very lucky to have Avalon Biddle guest speak about motivation, teamwork and highlights from her career in professional motocross. The children really enjoyed listening to her and learned about how hard work and determination can lead to amazing results!

Black Sticks Visit

On Monday we had the privilege of having 4 Black Stick women come in and speak to the Year 4-8 children. We had Rose

The children got a chance to ask questions about their hockey lifestyle and what it took to get to where they are today. We learnt lots about persevering when things get challenging, what its like to part of a team and what it takes to represent your country.

A big thank you to the Black Stick and Hockey Canterbury for organising it.

Kapa Haka

We have all been trying Kapa Haka as a learning centre this term. This is a great opportunity for all the students to try something new and see if they want to join our Kapa Haka group for the year. Below is a video of our students performing Nga Iwi E - our school waiata. Enjoy!

Otawhito had our team picnic last Friday. It was such a success! A big thank you to all of those parents who came in for the afternoon. It was lovely to have your help and support.

Kindness Day

As part of World Kindness Day on Tuesday, children in Otawhito hid their friendship rocks for the younger children to find. The little ones were very excited and the idea was a hit!

Maori Language Week

In Koreke we have been learning the te reo version of "Baby Shark" as part of Maori language week. It has been a lot of fun!

On August 29, four teams from Otawhito traveled to Cobham Intermediate to take part in the current events quiz. We didn't place in the top 3 but it was fun! We worked in groups of 3 to answer questions about current events, geography, flags and people in the news. There were quite a few rounds but the time went fast. The people involved were William, Holly, Brooke, Jordan, George, Callum, Tom, Jiya, Joseline, Flynn and Erin. Well done everyone!
