Otawhito Speech Finals

On Tuesday we held the 2016 Otawhito Speech Finals.  The standard of speeches was extremely high and Mr Naysmith (our guest judge) had a really difficult time selecting the winners.
We were treated to amazing presentations about reality TV, procrastinating and saving electricity - to name just a few.

The results were:
1st Mya Wolfenden
2nd Bethan Edwards
3rd Lana Rogers and Bridie Coughlan

Huge congratulations to all of our other finalists - Leah Daly, Rosa McNeil, Ameya Raut, Claudia Edy, Emma Moore, Mila Burke-Denholm.  They all demonstrated outstanding oral presentation skills.

As a learning centre, today we supported past Halswell School pupil Sophie Pascoe at the Paralympics. She was competing in the Women's 100m butterfly final S10. Sophie broke the Paralympic record and earned a gold medal! We were all so excited to cheer Sophie on from New Zealand!

Parachutes with our Buddies

Our buddies are learning about forces for their current inquiry.  Today T31, T32 and T33 made parachutes with our T14 and T15 buddies and tested the parachutes to see how well they worked.
